Hours

The Wildlife Museum is open 7 days/week throughout the summer season from May-long weekend to Labour Day.

Self-Guided Tours are available daily for the Moncur Gallery and Irvin Goodon International Wildlife Museum during regular museum hours.

Please Note: Tours of the Boissevain Model Railway Exhibit are guided tours and are currently available to the public on Thursdays and Fridays at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm (for the months of May and June).

 

Guided Group Tours

Guided Group Tours/School Classes are available from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm with an advance booking required.

We have guided tours available for all three exhibit areas (including the Moncur Gallery, Irvin Goodon Wildlife Museum, and Boissevain Model Railway). We can customize a tour for your group based on which exhibits are of interest and your timeframe of availability.

Irvin Goodon International Wildlife Museum

View the mighty grizzly bear amidst mountainous terrain, or glimpse the legendary buffalo, moose, polar bear, wild boar and many more on display!

Over 4000 square feet of interactive exhibits from Irvin Goodon’s signature collection.

Now also featuring wooden chainsaw carvings from The Bear’s Den, with carved bears and turtles sculpted by Jason Soper.

 

Moncur Gallery

Photo of Moncur GalleryA collection of ancient artifacts: arrow points, ceremonial stones and other First Nations historical findings. Take a glimpse into their lives and traditions prior to the arrival of European settlers.

Featuring artifacts as old as the Ice Age!

Ceremonial stones, arrow heads, an interactive archeological dig, and much more to discover!

NEW! Boissevain Model Railway

Located in the Irvin Goodon International Wildlife Museum (298 Mountain Street)

This newly restored collection was donated by Earl Patterson’s family and features three running lines with handmade displays including replicas of original homesteads and farming scenes, the Virden CPR station constructed from fieldstone, and featuring Boissevain Schools and heritage buildings, and other local attractions such as the Arts Park and Tommy Turtle. There’s also the Flin Flon Mine, Churchill Port, Anglo Oil Refinery, and the ever-impressive Bunclody Bridge to name a few!

You have to see this exhibit for yourself and the incredible amount of detail and historical accuracy!

Please Note: The Boissevain Model Railway is a guided tour exhibit and currently open on Thursdays and Fridays (May and June) with tours at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, and 5:00 pm.

Artisan Gallery

   

The Wildlife Museum is pleased to partner with the Boissevain-Morton Arts Council to feature the artwork of over 20 local and regional artists and artisans in the Artisan Market Gallery located in the gift shop of the museum. This gallery-style set up features ceramics, paintings, prints, jewellery, beaded moccasins, woodwork, photography, crocheting, and so much more. Admission to the Artisan Gallery is free and you can shop daily during the summer season from 10am to 6 pm.
